Welcome to Tadpole Vineyard
Nestled on a south-facing slope off Frog Lane in Bishopsbourne, Tadpole Vineyard is a family-run business growing exceptional grapes for English wines. We also produce our own light, easy-drinking Bacchus.
Why "Tadpole Vineyard"?
Our name reflects our roots on Frog Lane, and just as a tadpole transforms into a frog, we see ourselves as an establishing vineyard, still in the early stages of our journey.
Run by the McDonald family, Tadpole Vineyard is an intergenerational operation. Everyone plays a part. The Bacchus label featuring a frog was illustrated by our 12-year-old granddaughter, Agnes.
What we grow
In our vineyard, we grow Bacchus, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes.
We have a unique and exceptional terroir here at Tadpole Vineyard. Our vines thrive on a south-facing slope, rooted in sandy, silty soil with free-draining chalk, imparting a special character to our wine.
Our Wines
Our first release is our still white wine - Bacchus. Reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, it boasts grassy, herbal, and citrusy notes.
Keep an eye out for our future releases - a still Chardonnay and a red wine made from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
